Soul of Liberty
by

One more time around
Now it's like a game
Once you've seen it through
Then it seems the same
You can't understand
What's inside of me
Something I might call
Soul of liberty
Count up the times I've lived a new life
Number the vows I gave a new wife
Tally the battles fought for others
Butchered your fathers and your brothers
Once more unto the breach I'm going
Nothing about the past I'm knowing
Find out a universe is waiting
Shrouded but so exhilarating
One man born again
But I'm not alone
Just another light
Bright the day it shone
Can't remember when
I fell on the field
Nor how many times
I was told to yield
Who knows what lies ahead tomorrow
Will it be happiness or sorrow
Living was something I would cherish
Others would find it loud and garish
Some reach the level of almighty
Or find the love of Aphrodite
Some cause the anguish of a nation
Others attract their adulation
Not so proud of the years that passed among heroes
Not so happy with sums that ended as zeros
Who is braver for when they died among many
Who is richer to die with more than a penny
You will keep believing that you know it all
Ev'ry time you wake and see the shadows fall
But it's not as easy as it seems
When you can't determine which are real and which of them are dreams
Once or twice you search a spiritual path
Find an answer there like students learning Math
Then you see the writing on the wall
It becomes a burden when you hear the voices as they call
Not so proud of the years that passed among heroes
Not so happy with sums that ended as zeros
Who is braver for when they died among many
Who is richer to die with more than a penny
One day a world with bow and an arrow
Searching for food to feed a fam'ly
But then I wake as high as a sparrow
Rockets will glare so bright I can't see
When will it end...will it pass...or proceed eternally
How can it mend...will it last...is it you or is it me
One day a world of steel and a stallion
Spilling the blood that's soaked in the ground
But then I wake and find a rebellion
Hatred and pain are on the rebound
Now once again...here I go...fighting someone else's war
Who is a friend...can I know...do I march along some more
One day a world of fire and explosion
Ending a time corrupt in its hate
But when I wake it's ice and erosion
Can I escape so dismal a fate
No one left alive will live alone it's plain to see
And those who die are not alone, they live again
Just as it's happening to me
Live and die again, and then be born and live again
A cycle run along its course for one and all
But no one ever knowing when
Soul of liberty
For eternity
