Time in the Sun
by

What if you had been somebody else
Someone else in the past
Would it be a life you’d go braggin’ about
In the role you were cast
Maybe all of us were just peas in a pod
Until our time in the sun
Do you think that you were living high on the horse
Or livin’ under the gun
It’s not what you heard
Not like the shows you see
Not so absurd
Who knows what you can be
One day from now
Low-life or royalty
You won’t know how
Time will catch up with us all
Do you still think you can play out your own game
Or are you just a pawn for someone else
Do you suppose that nobody knows
You’re covering what’s inside
Start falling apart, you thought you were smart
It’s something that you would hide
‘Til now...but you never knew how
So you let it all out
When you found that you were backed up to the wall
And you saw what your life turned out to be
Now you find yourself starting again
And you have a new voice
To be who you thought you were when you woke up
You can make a new choice
Do you see you have a new beginning in life
And you can live it again
You might want to take the opportunity here
Because you never know when
It’s your time in the sun
Reaching your peak in life
It just begun
Red hot or cold as ice
It’s up to you
Sometimes it’s not so nice
Soon you’ll be through
Time will catch up with us all
Do you still think you can play out your own game
Or are you just a pawn for someone else
Do you suppose you’ll see how it goes
The moment you close your eyes
Then when you’re awake, you’ve got what it takes
Like something you exercise
‘Til now...but you never knew how
No you never knew how
Nobody knows you...no one at all
Will you be standing...or will you fall
Have a new outlook...take a new name
What are you seeking...riches or fame
Some will adore you...what they can see
Or they’ll abhor you...which will it be
Will you have money...money to spend
Will you be homeless...right to the end
Think...it through...and make...the right decision
It...could be...your last...hurrah
You can’t...depend...on what...you heard...or saw
What was I receiving
On a silver platter
Did I live my own life
Does it really matter
Was I just forgetting
Something that was better
Writing my own future
Scripting every letter
Once I was a teacher
No one was more giving
Tell me was it worth it
Was I really living
No one has an answer
That they’re really sure of
Is there a solution
Something to be pure of
Where do you go when it’s your turn to die
Is there a deity up in the sky
Do you believe that you’ll be born again
If you could know do you want to know when
Destiny is calling
If you care to hear it
Is it predetermined
Do you choose to fear it
Who can I look up to
Is there a true leader
Someone who’s deserving
Not another bleeder
Is God still in heaven
Watching all before him
Does it make him happy
If we all adore him
Now the clock is ticking
Time is moving faster
If God’s up there waiting
Is he still your master
Where do you go when it’s your turn to die
Is there a deity up in the sky
Do you believe that you’ll be born again
If you could know do you want to know when
Or be blind to it all
